PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control system that surely attains remote control at a high speed in spite of a simpler configuration. SOLUTION: This 2-way remote control system includes a digital TV 100, a DVCR 120 that makes mutual communication by using a serial bus in compliance with the IEEE-1394 standards and a remote commander 300 that can make infrared communication with those in compliance with the IrDA standards. The remote commander 300 locates the DVCR 120, generates a request packet (FCP packet) that indicates a control command, and generates a remote command packet by repeating addition of a header of this request packet or the like. The digital TV 100 receives the remote command packet, extracts the FCP packet by repeating elimination of the header or the like, and generates an asynchronous packet on the basis of the FCP packet. The DVCR 120 receives the asynchronous packet and conducts control according to this packet.
