PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an image from being partly missing or from being formed one-sidedly due to post-processing by shifting an image forming position, when forming the image on recording paper supplied from part of a plurality of paper feed means. SOLUTION: In the case that an inter-sheet mode denoting use of a plurality of trays is set, an original size and a recording paper size are sensed. When recording a paper of regular form, that is recording paper fed from a tray T1 or T2, an image is formed without a shift processing command. When recording a paper of irregular size, such as elongated paper as a front cover or partition paper, that is, recording paper from a tray T3, a shift amount is calculated and a command of shift processing is outputted to an image processing section and/or an image forming section. An image is formed to a position by shifting the image in a lateral and/or longitudinal direction according to the shift processing command. There is also a mode, where the image is formed at a position shifted according to a shift amount set by an operation section.
