The pre-separator has a suction chamber (2) with connections (3,4) to a vacuum source and a decanting machine. The suction chamber is connected to an evacuation chamber (5) by a valve with a purging valve, so that fluid can be drawn into the suction chamber from the evacuation chamber without impairing the vacuum in the suction chamber. An adjustable sealing body in the vertical axis of the evacuation chamber can be adjusted between a sealing seat of the separation wall of the suction chamber and a seal seat in the base of the evacuation chamber.
