PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new triazole derivative having excellent herbicidal effect, capable ob exhibiting excellent selectivity between crops and weds, useful as a herbicide having a low damage of agrochemical. SOLUTION: This triazole derivative is shown by formula I [X1 is O, S or a single bond; X2 is a (H2)m (m is 1-3) or the like; Y is H, a lower alkyl or an alkoxycarbonyl; Z1 to Z4 are each H, a halogen, a lower alkyl or the like; R1 and R2 are each a lower alkyl, a cycloalkyl or the like; n is 0 or 2] such as 1-diethylcarbamoyl-3-(1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalen-1-ylthio)-1,2,4-tri azole. A compound of formula I in which n is 0 is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III (Q is a halogen) in the presence of a base. The exemplified compound is obtained by reacting 3-(1,2,3,4- tetrahydronaphthalene-1-ylthio)-1,2,4-(1H)-triazole with diethylcarbamoyl chloride in the presence of pyridine.
