PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shave a workpiece to a required finished thickness even if the workpiece has a thickness error. SOLUTION: This shaving machine has a cutting tool for grinding a lower surface of a workpiece, such as a belt sanding head 17, a rotating planer body, a plane turning cutter, or the like; and a front guide table 30a tiltably journalled in front of the cutting tool, having a front end part energized upward. When the workpiece arrives, the front end part of the front guide table 30a retracts downward according to a thickness of the workpiece to change a height difference between a machining part (x) of the belt sanding head 17 or the like and a guide face (y) of the front end part of the front guide table 30a according to the thickness of the workpiece. That is, a thick workpiece is thickly shaved, while a thin workpiece is thinly shaved. A shaving thickness of the workpiece is changed such that a finished thickness of the workpiece after the machining certainly coincides with a height of a material feed passage between a material feed face of a material feed belt 8 just under a press plate 12 and the machining part (x) of the head 17. Therefore, even if the thicknesses of the workpieces are uneven, the change of the shaving thickness absorbs the unevenness to equalize and optimally finish the thicknesses of the workpieces. |
