PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate a pyrolysis residue into metal and non-metal correctly by using a method for combining crushing and classification. SOLUTION: A method for separating a foreign matter comprises a process in which water is removed from a pyrolysis residue containing metal and non- metal which are bonded together with the use of a dryer 1, a process in which the dried pyrolysis residue is classified preliminarily with the use of the first classifier 2, a process in which classified particles are crushed with the use of a crusher 3, and a process in which the crushed particles are classified precisely with the use of the second classifier to separate the classified particles into the aimed metal and non-metal.
