PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain higher turning round capability at the beginning of turning and higher stability during turning. SOLUTION: This steering gear for vehicle having a main steering mechanism (front wheel steering mechanism) which steers front wheels by steering wheels and an auxiliary steering mechanism 1 which steers a front wheels steering angle or rear wheels according to a vehicle traveling condition by an actuator such as a motor, involves a vehicle body-skidding angular velocity computing part 11 detecting or estimating a vehicle body skidding angular velocity at a point forward from a rear axle, and control means (rear wheel target steering angular computing part 12, rear wheel steering angle comparing part 20, and rear steering wheel control part 13) controlling the actuator so as to reduce the absolute value of the vehicle body-skidding angular velocity. It is thus possible to provide opposite phase steering for suppression of the outward vehicle body skidding angular velocity to the tangent of a turning circle at the beginning of turning, and identical phase steering for suppression of the inward vehicle body skidding angular velocity to the tangent of the turning circle in turning, thereby preventing auxiliary steering force from acting on in steady circular turning. |
