PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method for ink jet head in which an ink liquid drop is delivered from a nozzle by deforming a diaphragm electrostatically such that no charge is left between the diaphragm and each individual electrode. SOLUTION: The ink jet head forms a print of 1 dot by ejecting ink liquid drops three times and varies the polarity of a drive voltage pulse signal being applied between the diaphragm (common electrode) and the individual electrode of the ink jet head in the order of 'reverse' V2, 'forward' V3 and 'forward' V3. Since the insulating film between the diaphragm and the individual electrode has negative charging characteristics, generation of residual charges can be suppressed or avoided effectively by applying the drive voltage pulse odd number of times and increasing the number of times for applying a drive voltage having polarity opposite to the charging characteristics.
