PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly transparent film excellent in heat resistance, mechanical properties, solvent resistance and softness by using an ethylene copolymer having a specified aromatic vinyl compound unit content and a specified haze value. SOLUTION: An ethylene copolymer containing aromatic vinyl compound units in a content of 0.5 mol% or higher but lower than 5 mol% and having a haze (of 0.2 mm-thick film) of 20% or lower is used. Preferably, the copolymer has a total light transmission (of 0.2 mm-thick film) of 80% or higher and still preferably, the relation between the glass transition point (Tg) measured at -50 deg.C or higher by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and the aromatic vinyl compound unit content (St) satisfies: -20.0+St>Tg>-30.0+1.05 St. The most preferable copolymer has a styrene-ethylene alternating structure and such a stereoregularity of phenyl groups that the iostactic diad fraction m is 0.75 or higher.
