PURPOSE: An apparatus for sensing multi feed is provided to prevent unnecessary loss of a print paper and damage of parts of a printer by sensing multi feed generated when outputting print data, thereby increase the reliability of the print. CONSTITUTION: In a printer outputting data, an apparatus for sensing multi feed includes a sensing part(310) for sensing a transfer state of a paper supplied for printing the data, a setting part(330) for setting the sensing part to be operated according to the selection of a user, a controlling part(340) for determining multi feed state that plural papers are transferred if the sensing part senses the paper even if a given time passed and generating a control signal for stopping the operation of the printer, and a displaying part(320) for displaying the multi feed state to the user.
