METHOD FOR PROCESSING DEFECT SECTOR DATA IN A DIGITAL VIDEO DISC RAM SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method for processing defect sector data is provided to treat data having a defect sector by storing a defect list in a memory in a DVD(Digital Video Disk)-RAM system. CONSTITUTION: A DVD-RAM system is operated for inputting a selected file name. A microcomputer detects a sector having the selected file name for assigning a physical sector address of the detected sector. The microcomputer reads a defect list from a memory of a signal process unit or an ATAPI buffer memory. The microcomputer compares the physical sector address with a synchronized defect list. In case of the physical sector address nonexistent in the list, sector data corresponding to the physical sector address in the memory of the signal process unit. Otherwise, the sector data is not stored in the memory of the signal process unit.
