PURPOSE: An optimizing method for a skew in an HDD(Hard Disk Drive) is provided to reduce time for reading or recording information on a disk through establishing optimum skew values for each drive. CONSTITUTION: A specific measuring location of a disk is initialized for obtaining a skew value. Then, a skew table is initialized. A head is moved to a corresponding measuring location for obtaining optimum values for a track skew and a cylinder skew. In case of a head located at a last measuring location, the obtained optimum skew values are stored in a memory. Herein, the optimum skew values are stored in a maintenance cylinder or a flash memory.
