PURPOSE: A washing machine is provided to supply a detergent from a detergent container to a tub and completely melt the detergent with washing water. CONSTITUTION: A device for supplying and melting a detergent(20) contains a detergent container(21) to accept the powdered detergent and to input the detergent into a tub; a water supply pipe(23) to offer washing water into the tub; and a melting container(25) to melt the detergent by frictionally contacting the detergent with the washing water. The melting container(25) is formed cylindrically and has an inclined inlet. Thereby, the washing water and the detergent are melted in the melting container(25) through centrifugal force. Only the melted melting water is fed to the tub through an outlet pipe.
