<p>A direct smelting process for producing iron and/or ferroalloys is provided, which involves forming a molten bath in a metallurgical vessel, supplying feed materials, injecting oxygen containing gas, generating upward movement of the molten material from the molten bath, wherein the oxygen-containing gas is injected by three or more lances, and entraining into the jets of oxygen containing gas a volume of top space gas that is 2-6 times the volume of the injected gas.</p> |
