The support (8) has an upper surface which is raised to an elevated position to provide yieldable support for the feet of the occupant of the vehicle if an accident occurs. The support (8) may comprise an air-bag associated with a gas generator (6) and a crash sensor (5). When an accident occurs, the feet of the occupant of the vehicle are raised to an elevated position.
