PURPOSE:To provide an air bag device for a front passenger seat allowing an ideal shock-absorbing characteristic to be obtained when an occupant in the assistant's seat comes in contact with an instrument panel at the time of a light collision. CONSTITUTION:The rear half part 18 of a cover provided at an air bag module 8 is covered with a guide plate 19, and the guide plate 19 is provided with plural circular holes 24. A rigid member 26 shaped along the rear edge 25 of the guide plate 19 is rigidly fixed to this rear edge 25. The rigid member 26 is formed of steel of circular cross section and provided at both side parts thereof with erect extended parts 27 extended vertically aslant along the edge part of a side body part 21. In addition, the rigid member 26 integrally has a horizontal extended part 28 extended in the vehicle width direction along a main body part 20 in a position displaced backward from the erect extended part 27; inclined parts 29 continuous from both end parts of the horizontal extended part 28; and an obtuse-angled bent part 30 provided between the inclined parts 29 and the erect extended parts 27. |
