PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fan with a gruffling box to reduce the generation of noises on the suction side of a muffling box, reduce the number of parts and facilitate assembly, and eliminate a need for a vibration control material. SOLUTION: This fan is provided with a muffling box 1 at the inside of which a sound absorbing material 5 is arranged, and a fan 2 arranged in the muffling box 1. Air sucked through the suction port 3a of the muffling box 1 is guided to the suction port 2a of the fan 2 through a passage located in the muffling box 1 and formed of a sound absorbing material 5. The air is pressurized by the fan 2 and discharged through the discharge port 4a of the muffling box 1. In a so formed fan with the muffling box, a passage extending from the suction port 3a of the muffling box 1 to the suction port 2a of the fan 2 and surrounded with the sound absorbing material 5 is formed in a cylindrical shape. The diameter of the passage is lower than that of the suction port 2a of the fan 2 and gradually increased to a value approximately equal to that of the suction port 2a of the fan 2, and formed equal to that of a bell mouth part 5d in the vicinity of the suction port 3a of the muffling box 1.
