PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an initial portion pressing apparatus for pipe jacking method, which is obtained by improving a member which carries out a function as a strut. SOLUTION: The initial portion pressing apparatus for pipe jacking method comprises a base 26, two hydraulic cylinder apparatuses 28 arranged with a horizontal interval therebetween, and a pressing member 30 which is fixed to cylinders of the respective hydraulic cylinder apparatuses 28 and is movable on the base. The initial portion pressing apparatus includes two auxiliary pressing members 44, 46 which are mounted on the pressing member 30 in a horizontally movable manner in a direction orthogonal to a moving direction of the pressing member 30, and arranged in the interval between the two hydraulic cylinder apparatuses 28. These two auxiliary pressing members 44, 46 can be in contact with an end surface of a pipe and the pressing member 30 when they are moved in directions that approach each other, while they are arranged in axially external locations when they are moved in directions that separate each other.
