PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an inexpensive thermal transfer recording material of superior sensitivity, image preservation properties and gloss provided with a hand close to a silver salt photograph not generating image defects and provide a thermal transfer recording method using the recording material. SOLUTION: A thermal transfer recording material is constituted of a substrate formed of a polyester film of 0.6-1.05 specific gravity laminated on a face on the side whereon an image is formed on a resin coated paper coating at least one face of a base, which is formed of a natural pulp as a main component, with a resin layer containing a resin having the film forming power, and the ratio of thickness of the resin coated paper and the polyester film on the substrate is 8:1-1:1. In a thermal transfer recording method in which an ink sheet having at least one in layer containing a heat diffusion dye on the substrate is so overlapped with an image receiving face of an image receiving sheet as to face each other and heated in the form of an image to transfer the heat diffusion dye on the image receiving layer and form an image thereon, the substrate of the image receiving sheet is formed of the substrate described above. |
