摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of a medium printer by employing an inexpensive means for detecting movement of a print head section to a specified position for the purpose of platen gap adjustment. SOLUTION: A carriage 3 is provided with a contact terminal 20 and when a platen 15 pushes up the print head section 1 to bring the contact terminal 20 into contact with a sub-shaft 7, a decision can be made that the print head section 1 has ascended up to a specified position by detecting variation of potential at the contact terminal 20.
