DAMAGE REPAIR COMPOSITE MATERIAL AND ITS PRODUCTION AND RESTORING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a damage repair composite material capable of not only restoring deformation due to external stress but also repairing crack and destruction caused by impact, fatigue loading or the like and capable of easily and simply heating in repairing. SOLUTION: This composite material is composed of a cross-linked norbornene-based polymer (shape memory resin) 1 involving electrically conductive continuous fibers 2 covered with an olefin-based thermoplastic resin (heat fusible material) 3. When the damage repair composite material is deformed/ damaged, the composite is energized by sending electric current through the conductive continuous fiber 2 to heat up the damage repair composite material at the shape recovery temperature and above the melting point of the olefin- based thermoplastic resin 3. The shape of the damage repair composite material is repaired as the original and damages such as destruction and crack are repaired.
