PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolytic tank capable of effectively and appropriately coping with the leakage of a caustic solution into a gas chamber from a gas diffusion electrode by providing a lower gas chamber at a lower external end of a cathode element. SOLUTION: In the electrolytic tank, a lower gas chamber 6 is provided as a gas discharge part on a lower external end along a surface of a cathode collector frame 3 of a cathode element 4 below a gas chamber 2 of a gas diffusion electrode 1 of an electrolytic tank comprising the gas chamber 2 having an oxygen gas feed port 5 of the gas diffusion electrode 1 to be communicated with an oxygen gas feed part of the cathode chamber element 4 and a caustic chamber filled with a caustic solution between the gas diffusion electrode 1 and an ion-exchange membrane.
