PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a versatile method for retaining the freshness of a cut flower, hardly causing anxiety of environmental pollution by arranging a cut flower in anode water formed at the anode side by electrolyzing the water containing an electrolyte including chlorine by a diaphragm-type electrolyzed water-forming tool, or a diluted water thereof. SOLUTION: A cut flower is arranged in an anode water formed at the anode side by electrolyzing the water containing an electrolyte including chlorine (e.g. potassium chloride) by a diaphragm-type electrolyzed water-forming tool, or a diluted water thereof. The anode water preferably has <=3 hydrogen ion exponent, and the diluted anode water preferably has <=6 hydrogen ion exponent. Further, both thereof preferably contain hypochlorous acid. The method is preferably carried out under a condition of <=0.2μmol/m2/s density of light quantums and the temperature lower than room temperature except the period corresponding to nighttime.
