PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make accurately transferable each magnetic domain in a recording layer to a reproducing layer even when the recording density is increased and to make detectable the transferred magnetic domains. SOLUTION: This medium 10 has a light-transmitting substrate 1, base layer 2, reproducing layer 3, nonmagnetic layer 4, first recording layer 5, second recording layer 6 and protective layer 7. The reproducing layer 3 is a magnetic layer which is an in-plane magnetization film at room temp. and which changes into a perpendicular magnetization film at <=Tc0. The first recording layer 5 has a first Curie temp. Te1 higher than the temp. Tc0, and the second recording layer 6 has a second Curie temp. Tc2 higher than the first Curie temp. Tc1. The total film thickness of the nonmagnetic layer 4 and first recording layer 5 is controlled to the film thickness that the magnetic domains in the second recording layer 6 can not be transferred by magnetostatic coupling to the reproducing layer 3.
