PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a control section of an optical relay amplifier to apply monitor control to a reception section and an amplifier section in the optical relay amplifier where the control section is designed as a separate unit from the reception section. SOLUTION: A control signal CR from a reception section 11 is fed to a control section 12 via an optical transmission line 16 and a supervisory signal SR and a high frequency communication signal J from the reception section 11 are frequency-multiplexed and the resulting signal is fed to the control section 12 via an optical transmission line 14, the high frequency communication signal in the multiplexed signal is fed to an amplifier section 13 via an optical transmission line 15, a control signal CT from the control section 12 is fed to the amplifier section 13 via an optical transmission line 17, and a supervisory signal ST from the amplifier section 13 is fed to the control section 12 via an optical transmission line 18. |
