PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner wherein when an outdoor machine is defrosted, a heating operation is continuously performed to reduce radiation loss, thereby shortening a defrosting period. SOLUTION: The air conditioner comprises a compressor 2, 4-way value 3, an outdoor heat exchanger 5, an expansion valve, and an indoor heat exchanger 11, which are successively connected through a refrigerant pipe to constitute a refrigerant circuit, wherein a first solenoid valve 9a is disposed between the exchanger 5 and the valve 3, while a first bypass line 7a including a second solenoid valve 9b interconnects a line between the valve 9a and the exchanger 5 and a line between the delivery side of the compressor 2 and the valve 3. An expansion valve 6 comprises a first expansion valve 6a and a second expansion valve 6b, and a second bypass line 7b including a third solenoid valve 9c and a defrosting heat exchanger 4 interconnects a line between the expansion valves 6a, 6b and a line between the valve 3 and the valve 9a. |
