PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition plug for internal combustion engine capable of prolonging the duration of a fuel mixture gas of good workmanship to stay in a spark gap part and of excluding likely cause of imperfect combusting performance such as carbon fouling or fogging by preventing liquid drops of fuel from colliding with the insulator part. SOLUTION: An ignition plug 10 for an internal combustion engine is positioned confronting the combustion chamber in which the fuel is injected, wherein the axial direction length of the metal fitting part 14A behind a center electrode 11 about the fuel injecting direction is made greater than the length of the metal fitting part 14B located ahead, so that covering part 14C to cover approx. half the circumference of the center electrode 11 located in the rear about the fuel injecting direction in the combustion chamber is formed from a long formed part of the metal fitting part 14A in the rear.
