PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set the target illuminance of a self-controller to control the optical output of an illuminating load upon sensing the surrounding illuminance from a place other than the place of installation. SOLUTION: An illuminance control part 20 of this lighting system performs a feedback control, so that the surrounding illuminance sensed by an illuminance sensing part 21 approaches the target illuminance value set in an illuminance setting part 20a. The target illuminance set by the illuminance setting part 20a is written in with a signal transmitted via a signal line Ls. Accordingly, the setting of the target is made practicable from a place other then the installed place of a self-controller 35.
