PURPOSE: An electronic payment system using an electronic wallet containing a bank account number and the method thereby are provided so that all transaction participants can obtain interests as the operator of an electronic payment server distributes generated profits to the transaction participants. CONSTITUTION: A client selects goods in webpages provided by an internet shopping mall server(140) and attempts settlement with the selection of an electronic wallet icon(b1). If the client selects the electronic wallet icon, an electronic wallet driving program(112) is executed(b2). Goods purchase information from a settlement web page(111)(b3) is transferred to the electronic wallet driving program(112). The electronic wallet driving program(112) transfers representative payment means selection information and goods purchase information to an electronic payment server(120)(b4). The internet shopping mall server(140) requests settlement approval to the electronic payment server(120) for the ordered goods(b5). The electronic payment server(120) transfers the client's bank account number and the total money of the goods to a financial system and requests settlement approval(b6).
