PURPOSE: A method for using mercury as a gas compressor filler is provided to improve utility of a residual space of various compressors, prevent gas leakage, and reduce noise and extend life span of the compressor by using a relatively small power, thereby achieving energy saving. CONSTITUTION: In a method for using mercury as a gas compressor filler, an upper chamber for gas compressing and a lower chamber as a cylinder chamber are separatedly positioned at upper and lower parts and connected to each other by a tube formed in a structure for increasing heat insulation at an outside and serving as a passage of mercury, wherein the mercury in the lower chamber is introduced into the upper chamber due to a lifting stroke of a piston in response to the power supply from a crank shaft, so that the volume of gas in the upper chamber is reduced, generating pressure. As the pressure reaches a predetermined degree, an exhaust valve is opened. When the piston reaches an upper dead point in the lower chamber and the mercury pushes the gas in the upper chamber to be full in the upper chamber, the exhaust valve is opened and a feed valve is opened to start a lowering stroke of the piston, so that the mercury is lowered into the lower chamber.
