<p>A process for preparing a dispersion (30) of high grade polyester copolymer resin in water (14) includes the steps of: combining (40) a crude polyester copolymer resin (12), having particles of various sizes, with water (14); heating (42) and agitating (44) the resin/water mixture (16); cooling (46) the mixture (16); continuously filtering (48) the mixture (16) to remove the largest size resin particles; allowing the mixture to stand undisturbed so that any undispersed particles settle out as a sediment (32); and removing the sediment, leaving a dispersion (30) of the smallest resin particles in water. By using a plurality of filters (22) and sequentially finer filter mesh sizes, a high grade product is attained.</p> |
