Graphite particles comprises natural veined graphite or flake graphite particle clusters with specified average diameter, specific surface and apparent density values. Graphite particles comprise natural veined graphite or flake graphite particle clusters having a D50 diameter of 8-22 Micro as measured by laser beam diffraction, a specific surface of 2.5-6 m2>/g as measured by nitrogen gas adsorption and an apparent density of >= 0.25 g/cm3> before compaction and >= 0.55 g/cm3> after compaction, the apparent density after compaction being 1.8-2.5 times that before compaction.
