PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate an operation of altering an impressing target position on a surface of an object to be impressed by controlling an impressing motor so that a speed of a printing functional unit when impressed to be brought into contact with the object coincide with a feeding speed decided by a speed deciding means. SOLUTION: A printing functional unit in a microcomputer decides whether a rotating direction changeover switch 87 is switched to a forward rotation side or reverse side of a servo motor 44. After this decision, the motor 44 is accelerated until a moving speed becomes substantially equal to a circumferential speed of an impressing roller 33 of a type 37 unit becomes equal to a conveying speed of a carton 11 by a carton conveyor 21 to bring the moving speed into coincidence with the conveying speed. The motor 44 is rotated until the 37 unit is reset to an initial position in the speed maintaining state. Thus, the apparatus can easily deal with altering of the impressing target position.
