PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition plug structure for gas appliance in which incomplete ignition due to leak is reduced by making dirt adhering to the surface of the ignition plug to be cleaned off easily. SOLUTION: A porous enamel coating 9 is formed on the outer surface of an insulator 7 arranged on the electrode rod 5 of an ignition plug 20. Dirt adhering to the surface of the insulator 7 is spread over a wide area by means of the porous enamel coating 9. It is oxidized catalytically by the oxygen in the air under temperature during cooking and decomposed. Dirt is cleaned off even under a relatively low temperature (180 deg.C or above) through use of the porous enamel coating 9. According to the arrangement, incomplete ignition of the ignition plug 20 due to leak spreading on the surface of the insulator 7 is reduced.
