PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a printing speed while controlling a paper sheet feeding timing without using a high processing speed. SOLUTION: A paper sheet length detecting switch 40 is provided between a pickout roller 34 for picking paper sheets S out of a paper sheet cassette 30 and a resist roller 37 to provide for detection of the length of the sheet S fed at the 1st. A timing for feeding the sheets S at and after the 3rd is determined in accordance with the detected sheet length so as to feed the next sheet S when the preceding sheet S is being carried by the resist roller 37. The 2nd sheet S is fed at a fixed feeding timing independently of a sheet length. The sheets S at or after the 3rd are fed at a earlier timing to produce an increase in printing processes.
