PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article carrying and assembling device and a method therefor by controlling a posture of work so as to oppose to an assembling head without providing an individual mechanism which moves the assembling head opposing to an article work surface forward and backward in a prescribed direction. SOLUTION: In order to carry out prescribed operations to work surfaces 2, 3 after stopping work 1 which is loaded on a pallet 4 and carried by a roller conveyer 5 at a midpoint, the device is provided with an elevating device 6 picking up the stopped work 1 from the roller conveyer 5, and a mechanism for relatively moving the work surfaces 2, 3 so as to oppose to an assembling head 30.
