PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of a vibration sensor by constituting the vibration detecting section of the sensor of optical passive parts, in such a way that the single- wavelength light emitted from an optical reflection measuring instrument is introduced to the detecting section, and the section detects the magnitudes of vibrations from the intensity of the reflected light of the introduced light. SOLUTION: An optical vibration detecting section 3 is composed of an optical reflection measuring instrument 1, an optical fiber 2, and an optical vibration detecting section 3. The detecting section 3 is composed of a light incident section 6, a condenser lens 7, a pendulum type attenuator 8, and a total reflection type mirror 9. The single- wavelength light 4 which is emitted from the device 1 and propagated through the fiber 2 is made incident on the attenuator 8 through the lens 7. The light 4 is reflected by the mirror 9 after the loss corresponding to the degree of the vibration detected by means of the vibration detecting section 3 is added to the light 4 and returns to the instrument 1 as reflected light 5. The instrument 1 catches the intensity of the reflected light 5 which varies with time as the magnitude of the vibration detected by means of the vibration detecting section 3 and outputs the results to external equipment.
