摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal display device having high reliability which realizes high-quality image display by incorporating an org. substance having adsorptivity of impurities into any member formed in a nonpixel part. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device, an alignment film 15a is formed on a TFT array substrate 11, while a color layer 17, an ITO film 18 and an alignment film 15b are formed on a glass substrate to constitute a counter substrate 19. Any members formed in the nonpixel part contain an org. substance having absorptivity of impurities. The members in the nonpixel part are a columnar spacer 20, sealing agent and sealing material 16. As for the org. substance having adsorptivity of impurities, a polyimide is used. The polyimide is preferably obtd. by the reaction of 2,3,5-tricarboxy cyclopentyl acid dianhydride and diamine. The sealing material 16 with dispersion of the polyimide powder is printed along the periphery of the alignment film 15b on the substrate 19.
