The multi-shaft type roller 1 is rotationally controlled by using a roller position detector 2, a roller drive assembly 3 and a roller rotational controller 4, by which a fixing position and a stop position are obtained. The need for the lever for moving the position of the fixing roller in a direction parting from the paper and associated mechanisms thereof is eliminated.
