PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing current reducing unit for preventing abrasion of a bearing part, damages or breaks of a rotating shaft, by reducing a bearing current generated at a rotating machine. SOLUTION: An electrostatic shielding member, made of a metallic conductor as a non-magnetic body with permeability almost equal to that in a vacuum state, is provided and fixed on the inner gap-side circumferential face of the stator core 1 in such a way that an opening 12 of the slot 2 is blocked. The electrostatic shield is formed between a coil 4 and a rotor 7 to prevent a bearing current in a discharge mode with large amplitude and stress on a bearing unit and a bearing current in a conductive mode frequently generated with stress and which is not negligible in influence on the bearing unit. In this way, a rotating machine requiring no maintenance even at a long use can be obtained.
