The circuit layout (11) for a vehicle consists of consuming units (12,13) which are supplied from a battery (16) through control units (14,15). A starter motor/generator (12) requires a much higher than normal current for perhaps two seconds during starting and the vehicle calculator causes a changeover switch (17) on a lightly loaded consuming unit (13) to make available the corresponding control unit (15) in parallel to the starter control unit (14).
