The invention relates to an axial piston engine, comprising a wobble plate which rotates about an axis of rotation, at least one piston and a non-rotatable supporting plate which brings about the displacement of the piston in the direction of its longitudinal axis. Said supporting plate comprises a support device which has a supporting element that projects from the supporting plate and interacts with a torsion-proof abutment. The invention is characterised in that the supporting element (15) engages in a sliding body (17) which can rotate and pivot in relation to the support element. Said sliding body has a first sliding surface (33) which interacts with the supporting element (15) and a second sliding surface (39) which interacts with the abutment (19).
