Method of estimating channel state in mobile radio system

The system passes data in continuously transmitted time slots over a mobile radio channel. The method involves estimating the channel state by evaluating a received signal preceded within a defined time slot by a known pilot bit sequence. The channel state estimation derived using the pilot bit sequence (10) transmitted during the nth time slot is used to estimate the channel state in the (n-1) the time slot.
