Downhole choke mechanism

A choke mechanism to vary the flow between exterior environment and an axial flow conduit in a tubing member. The mechanism consisting of a housing 502 having a port 504 to the exterior environment and a decreasing radius inner sleeve 512 with a port 518 to the axial flow conduit. The inner sleeve is contained within the housing and is rotatable using a drive system to vary the dimension of the flow path between the housing port and sleeve port. The seals 514 allow the housing poll to be completely closed off to prevent flow into the tubing interior. A shear out means is provided to detach the inner sleeve from the drive system to terminate flow through the choke by mis-aligning the sleeve and housing port. The mechanism includes a downhole processor and sensors.
