SUBSTANCE: apart from using absorption rods, reactivity of nuclear reactors is controlled by pumping fuel through core at a speed of maximum 0.2 m/s and in case of spasmodic rise of reactivity molten fuel pressure is brought to value at which Tf.melt <Tc. boil <Tf.out, where Tf.melt is fuel melting temperature, K; Tc.boil is coolant boiling temperature, K; Tf.out is fuel temperature at core outlet, K; at least 0,01.(P/P0).(deltaN/N)% of coolant contained in fuel is converted to steam, where P is coolant boiling pressure, bar; P0 is pressure of 1 bar; deltaN is thermal capacity rise above steady state value, MW; N is steady state thermal capacity, MW; steam produced in the process is passed through perforated core bottom to displace part of molten fuel from core.
