PURPOSE: An apparatus is provided to use an application which includes a relatively display screen. CONSTITUTION: If it is determined that the display items (56) of a screen of an application program are not fully displayed within a relatively small display screen (38) of a mobile data processing device, then a substitute screen (57) is automatically generated. The substitute screen (57) relocates said display items (56) to render them visible on said relatively small display screen (38). Additionally, particular fields of said display items (56) are converted from full-text display status (60) to hypertext display status (62).
