PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for receiving digital signal is provided to perform the treatment of a service which is described in a PAT(program association table) and/or an EIT and is not described in an NIT(network information table) by generating a list which is described in an information table of the NIT and performing a display of an EPG. CONSTITUTION: A front end unit(102) tunes a certain carrier based on control information from a host processor(105) among received signals, and performs demodulation processes corresponding to modulation processes and performs an error collection process corresponding to a coding process to provide an obtained transport stream to a transport unit(103) having a discrambler(131) and a demultiplexer(132). The discrambler(131) performs a discramble process based on control information from the host processor(105). The demultiplexer(132) separates and extracts a necessary packet based on control information from the host processor(105). A MPEG decode unit(104) forms an analog video output and an analog audio output based on control information from the host processor(105). The host processor(105), the front end unit(102), the transport unit(103) and MPEG decode unit(105) are connected by a bus, and transmit and receive data.
