PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for describing feature of motion activity of moving picture is provided to obtain an economic gain by providing a descriptor of motion feature information of a video to be used in a multimedia data search. CONSTITUTION: A motion parameter is extracted from a provided moving picture(S1100). A statistical feature of a size of the motion parameter is extracted from each picture when one picture of the moving picture is composed as the M number of blocks or an object(S2100). A statistical feature of a direction of the moving parameter is extracted(S3100).
