PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a surface lighting system, and improve a luminance distribution with a simple structure, even if the number of illuminants are reduced. SOLUTION: This surface lighting system is provided with a light introducing plate 2 having a light introducing part for introducing light from an illuminant 1 in the surface inside direction, a light guide part 4 for guiding light from the light introducing part, and a light emission part 5 for emitting light guided from the light guide part 4. In the surface lighting system, the illuminant 1 is disposed in the vicinity of the light introducing part arranged at the corner parts of the light introducing plate 2. The angle defined by two straight-lines 4a and 4b of the light emission part 5 side in the first surface and second surface of the light introducing plate 2 holding the light introducing part is set acutely.
