VARIABLE RATE ACCESS SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a variable rate access system that can flexibly control a communication rate of a network as required in the case of transmitting a packet between computers through the use of the network. SOLUTION: The system is provided with a transmission control means where a plurality of modulation/demodulation means 43 modulating/demodulating a digital signal to be transmitted by using carrier signals with different frequencies are placed to one end and other end of a transmission line respectively, and a protocol PPP is used to transmit data between one end and other end of the transmission line, a multi-link control means that distributes the data transmitted through the transmission line into a plurality of links and reconfigures the data distributed into a plurality of the links into one, and a band assignment means that reserves/releases a link as required and controls a communication rate through the revision of the number of links used as the same time for one communication between the one end and the other end of the transmission line. The communication rate is controlled by changing the number of carrier signals used as the same time.
